Clarity Before You Begin
Answers to the questions people often ask before taking the first step towards therapy.
Read FAQsFrequently Asked Questions
We understand that starting therapy can bring many questions. Here are answers to some of the most common ones.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking a session is simple. You can use the Book a Session button on the website or reach out via WhatsApp or email. Once you get in touch, we'll discuss a suitable appointment time and answer any questions you may have before your first session. The goal is to make the process as straightforward and comfortable as possible.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is kept private and confidential. The only exceptions are rare situations where there is a serious concern that you or someone else may be at risk of harm, or where disclosure is required by law. In such situations, the necessary steps are taken to help ensure everyone's safety. Confidentiality is one of the foundations of a trusting therapeutic relationship, and it is something we take very seriously.
How long does each therapy session last?
Most sessions last around 50–60 minutes, giving us enough time to explore what's on your mind without feeling rushed.
Do you provide online counselling?
Yes. All sessions are conducted online through a secure platform. Many people actually find online therapy more comfortable because they can join from a familiar, private space without the stress of travelling. Research has shown that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns. What matters most is having a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable sharing openly.
How many sessions will I need?
There isn't a pre-decided or fixed number of sessions. Every person's journey is different. Some people find that a few sessions are enough to work through a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support. As therapy progresses, we'll regularly review your goals, discuss your progress, and consider what would be most helpful for you. The decision to continue therapy will always be yours.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is simply a conversation. We'll spend time understanding what has brought you to therapy, what you'd like support with, and what you're hoping to gain from the process. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. You can begin wherever feels comfortable for you. By the end of the session, you'll have a clearer understanding of your concerns, how therapy may help, and the approach we'll take if we decide to work together.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. You can book a therapy session directly without a referral. Many people seek therapy simply because they're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, navigating life changes, or wanting to understand themselves better. You don't need a diagnosis or referral to benefit from psychological support.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
It's completely normal to feel unsure before beginning therapy. If you're looking for a space to better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, improve your emotional wellbeing, or simply feel heard without judgement, therapy may be a helpful step. The first session is an opportunity to explore your concerns, ask questions, and decide whether therapy feels right for you.
Can I book a session even if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?
Yes.Many people begin therapy with questions rather than certainty. The initial consultation gives you the opportunity to discuss your concerns, understand how therapy works, and explore whether it feels like the right fit for your needs. There is no pressure to continue beyond the first session.
Why is it called Theatre of Wellness?
The name comes from a simple belief, our lives are shaped not only by what happens to us, but also by the meaning we give to those experiences over time. Some experiences become a source of strength. Others leave us carrying self-doubt, grief, fear, or questions we haven't yet had the space to explore. Without even realising it, they can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to life's challenges. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and understand your experiences with greater clarity and self-compassion. As you begin to make sense of your story, it often becomes easier to recognise your strengths, develop healthier ways of coping, build more fulfilling relationships, and move towards the life you want to create. The word Theatre reminds us that every life is made up of many chapters. Some are joyful. Some are difficult. Some ask us to grow in ways we never expected. Whatever chapter you're in today, you don't have to navigate it alone. Welcome to Theatre of Wellness.
What concerns can therapy help with?
